Independent Australian Senator Nick Xenophon has used a speech in Parliament to raise allegations of widespread criminal conduct within the "Church" of Scientology.
It will be interesting to see how he goes.
Nothing I have seen makes me think Scientology is a religion. A cult maybe, but a religion? No.
I've seen football clubs with a better claim to religious status than a pack of wackos who, by all accounts, use blackmail and intimidation to rule their flock.
I am still not convinced that L. Ron Hubbard didn't start it as a bet with some mate down at the pub. True the pub was in a distant galaxy, far far away, and the barman had four eyes and green body hair but, a joke on humanity none the less.

Nothing like a sect to stir the idiocy gene into action. One Tom Cruise is enough.
It's just a money-obsessed pseudo-religion based on absurdly faulty science. Did you ever see the "Southpark" bit on Scientalalalogy? Kind of funny.
the good Senator would be wise to be verrrrry careful about checking his mailbox for poisonous snakes before reaching in.
Some years ago there was a *rash* of rattlesnakes lodging in the mailboxes of vocal opponents of Scientology in the US.
Just a coincidence of course.
I believe the Catholics and Protestants also use intimidation. They maintain that if you don't believe in their philosophy you go to a place called Hell.
I always thought Hell was other people.
How does one actually define a religion? It's a bit like defining terrorism.
